Photosynthesis

Photosynthesis – Definition, Process, Cycle, Components, Importance, Reactions:

Definition of Photosynthesis: Photosynthesis is one of the very important process by which green plants and certain other organisms transform light energy into chemical energy. During the process of photosynthesis in green plants, light energy is generally captured and used to convert water, carbon dioxide, and minerals into the oxygen gas and energy-rich organic compounds.

Types of Photosynthesis:

There are two different types of photosynthetic processes in nature first is oxygenic photosynthesis and second is anoxygenic photosynthesis. The common principles of oxygenic photosynthesis and anoxygenic photosynthesis are very similar, but the oxygenic photosynthesis is the most common process and generally seen in the plants, algae, and cyanobacteria. However, during the oxygenic photosynthesis process, light energy transfers electrons from water (H2O) to carbon dioxide (CO2), and produce to carbohydrates. In this transfer process or cycle, the CO2 is “reduced,” or receives electrons, and the water becomes “oxidized,” or loses electrons. In the other, we can say oxygen is produced along with carbohydrates in the oxygenic photosynthesis. The “Anoxygenic photosynthesis does not produce oxygen.
